Bill de Blasio.

I watched him (on CSPAN) give a speech to a group of Iowa progressive Democrats. I was impressed with both his passion and clearheaded defense of liberal public policy.

What do those of you that live in NYC or New York State think of him?

In order to boost "affordable" housing, he's giving away zoning variance right and left for super-tall apartment buildings (my neighborhood has them being built on parkland); meanwhile, he's not investing in any support services (schools, hospitals, water systems etc.)

exposed to a couple hours per day of schooling? I heard that he has worked or is working to have all NYC school kids get free lunch (that used to be the rule when I went to school, until the paid lunch nonsense started when I got to high school - but in elementary school, we got handed a free lunch ticket by our teacher and turned that in at lunchtime).

I hope he gives Gillibrand a run for her money in the next NY Senatorial election! I would also seriously consider him as a presidential candidate.
