I apologize for misquoting Benjamin Franklin saying that Democracy was like having two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner.

I found it amusing given the nature of America today.

I was wrong. Some things never change.

NEVERTHELESS, A HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

"Garson O’Toole has traced a version of this back to 1990. He found the line “Democracy has been described as four wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch” in the Los Angeles Times, Nov. 25, 1990."

Without the help of Putin, Trump would still be just a bad reality show actor. The majority, if given the truth and allowed to vote, almost always vote for the best possible outcome.

I had a political science professor who opined, "Democracy would work fine if it weren't for people".

I've used that a lot throughout the years. For now, let me say DU helps keep me sane. In other words, DU works for me.

Happy 2018, fellow DUers. Keep up the good work. This West Coast member thanks you, one and all.

Cheers!
