Trump set up the FBI

with his repeated and idiotic charges of a “rigged election”. As a result of his campaign around this, the FBI was reticent to act aggressively much less publicize, investigation into his collusion with Russia.

Trump knew it would have this effect.

When he won, no matter the evidence, they - the pundits - couldn't go back on their claims that the election would be fair. He was asked in the debates if he would accept a defeat, and everyone condemned him for saying he would only lose if it was rigged.

He knew the Russians were rigging the election; and he was making it hard for anyone to point it out after the election.
