I'm no fan of it myself but it's what it is for many in that they prefer the quicker way to convey information as opposed to spelling everything out. Language is fluid and we've seen that over the course of humanity in how it's presented. Eventually, it'll be disseminated through pictograms that are blasted into our heads with augmented reality.
