Mark Kelly's 'Deadly Serious' Tweet in Response to Trump's NK Button-Measuring Contest

Mark Kelly @ShuttleCDRKelly
As a pilot in the @USNavy, I was trained to deliver nuclear weapons. EVERYTHING we did with these weapons was deadly serious. No jokes, no threats, no mistakes. Every soldier, sailor, airman and marine gets that. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss this further. twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/948355557022420992 …

Unbelievable that the President of the United States is just kidding around about starting a nuclear exchange, but even worse is the collective shrug from the popular media. Are they so preoccupied with their swell parties and endless lists of who's up and who's down that they don't give a happy rat's ass about the annihilation of all life on the planet?

Not the news, but what their particular media outlet wants to spew.

Not the facts, but the convenient pre-digested tidbits that follow the outlet's direction - usually based on the $ponsor$s $$$s.

Not the personal integrity, but what can they say/report on that will get them some limelight.

And, yes - there are lots of good-times had at lots of swell parties, dinners, schmoozes.

And then, the hangover of realizing that you've been conned. That you haven't done your journalistic job. That you've taken the one-night stand rather than a "let's get to know each other" relationship.

"Oh, well, it's just Trump rage-tweeting," or some such other dismissive crapulence? Or were they yelling at their viewers to call their Congress critters and get this lunatic removed from office ASAP?

This has happened to me once or twice when I commented on other sites about Trump's stupid remarks. His cheerleaders tell you that he was just joking and that libs have no sense of humor. wtf? Joke about nuclear war? Well then I guess they're right, I have no sense of humor when it comes to subjects like that.

Tell the people that lived in the Americas before the onslaught of the Europeans "get a sense of humor".

Tell the captive people that were brought to this continent to serve those Europeans "you need a sense of humor".

Tell the suffragettes, the disenfranchised voters, the minority party in a rigged election "It's just a joke."

posted such enlightened commentary as "He wanted to bomb SF? Why did they stop him?" and "Don't worry Libtards, we'll get you all soon." This was on the 22nd or 23rd of December.

In the process of telling them to go fuck themselves, I explicitly called them false Christians, condemning them for their hypocrisy and for pretending to be Christians on the then-pending holiday.

They called me a snowflake and told me to lighten up because it's just a joke.

I asked them if they would joke if a Muslim had tried to blow up a church.

Every Conservative who is not actively condemning Trump with his every breath is every bit as bad as the most far-right neo-Nazi. Fuck every last one of those idiot racist fuckheads.

which describes the doctrine of nuclear weapons handling with complete and irrevocable accuracy. I was trained in the use of shipboard nuclear weapons in the navy, and there is no shipboard evolution that is more serious in its execution. I was so stunned upon hearing of trump's gravely irresponsible comment that I had trouble even comprehending its existence.

I want to believe that the more stable minds at 1600 reconnected the big red button on his desk away from the launch codes, and to ordering another Diet Coke. They — and the rest of our planet’s sentient life forms — are counting on the easily-distracted mind of the Oval Office occupant to not question the outcome of his hitting the button.
If only these same caretakers could disconnect or divert his Twitter outbursts. Yes, I know: fucking unlikely.

anything with no holds barred. The theory is that it would scare opponents off because they couldn't predict what the president might do. Of course, it could also result in a preemptive first strike against a US city.
