Trump’s Lawyers Send Bannon Cease-and-Desist Letter
Jonathan Bachman/Reuters

President Trump’s lawyers have reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon to prevent him from making disparaging comments about the president and his family. The move comes after excerpts from an upcoming book on Trump’s campaign and time in office revealed Bannon dissing Trump campaign officials, prompting a political firestorm and personal attacks by the president. Charles Harder, one of Trump’s attorneys, said in a statement late Wednesday that Bannon has been notified “his actions of communicating with author Michael Wolff regarding an upcoming book give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander, and breach of his written confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement with our clients,” ABC News reports. “Legal action is imminent,” the statement warns. Harder reportedly informed Bannon he could be forced to fork over “monetary damages” for his “disparaging” and “in some cases outright defamatory” statements.

The 'Obama is not American Birther' and 'Crooked Hillary' carnival barker is screaming defamation.

No wonder I keep asking Hillary to sue him. Fuck him.

How can you require people in your administration to sign something like this? I know this is the Trump MO in his personal and business life but this is certainly different and I can't imagine that Bannon is intimidated.

Which of course has no bearing on what happens after Trump took office.

Publicity stunt.

That they've chosen to go to war with Bannon instead of their usual 'fake news' approach.

are WAY smarter than tRump's.

Also defamation/libel is very difficult to prove against a public figure. Who is more public than that guy?

And they think they will sue for monetary damages? For someone who is not supposed to be profiting from his office?

That would be priceless.

Besides, I don't think NDAs can be used to hide evidence of criminal activity. See you in court, guys.

The letter confirms he Bannon quotes are true. Why send a letter if your claiming it's all fake?
