Sean Spicer Returns to Try to Repair His Credibility. Fails.

Sean Spicer's short tenure as White House Press Secretary began with questionably false statements about the size of the crowd one day earlier at Donald Trump's inauguration. Spicer infamously barked at reporters, “this was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe.”

In an exceptionally lengthy investigation at the time USA Today concluded, "Trump and Spicer argued that the media misrepresented the size of the crowd at the inauguration, and we don’t find any evidence of that. To the contrary, it was Trump and Spicer who provided false information to feed a false narrative about crowd size."

The Atlantic
reported, "Trump's Press Secretary Falsely Claims: 'Largest Audience Ever to Witness an Inauguration, Period'," and added, "In his first official White House briefing, Sean Spicer blasted journalists for 'deliberately false reporting,' and made categorical claims about crowd-size at odds with the available evidence."

Almost a full year later and six months after ending his stint as press secretary, Spicer has returned, trying to salvage his credibility and reputation.

He lost his job in the most incompetent administration in history.

He is STILL sliming and deflecting his way around admitting that he knowingly lied for Trump. This interview with SE Cupp is supposed to be his launch of apology/rebranding tour? Fuck him. Fuck his lies. Fuck the entire Republican Party. Fuck Donald Trump. Fuck him.

...and anybody who supports, enables, or spins his poison.

Fuck them all. I’m so sick of this protracted execution of our country and culture.

The rot is deep...

We are an anti-intellectual society fast approaching our zenith. It is the same collective cognitive investment and justifications that gave us facebook and considers Beyoncé a definitive and respectable artist (despite there being 72 song writer credits on her latest album...can anybody guess how many credits Coltrane needed?... Bill Withers or Pink Floyd? Or Kurt Cobain?) that gave us President Trump. The logical conclusion of American Idol and social media culture was ALWAYS going to be where we are now. Trump, or some anti-intellectual Demi-god was inevitable. Garbage in, garbage out...reaping and sowing and such...

Education is the only way out of this. It will take several generations to truly fix this. And only if we fully own it and make a 180 turn NOW.

I’m honestly not too optimistic that’s about to happen.

It’s gonna get a lot worse first, Friends.

Hold tight.

Skâl!
