Long ago I worked in the ER

Many times persons would come in who would be in need of psychiatric services.

Trump “stable genius” comment is reminiscent of what one might hear from an in crisis psychiatric patient suffering delusions of grandeur.

They are all agreed he is nuts. If it weren't for the Goldwater Rule, the entire mental health profession would demand his removal.

Other person in the room next to us was delusional and violent when he wasn’t being listened to. He was tied down with a nurse in the room at all times. He told her he owned the hospital. In an attempt to help him see the truth she called the chief of staff at the hospital down and the guy repeated the claim to the COS who explained who he was. The man said well, he might be important but he had never heard about him because he, the patient, was the King of the hospital! All of this had the odd sound of being logical even though he was obviously ill.

Delusions are sometimes difficult to spot.
