(25,816 posts)She is very likeable, she's a self-made millionaire and I believe she
shares moderate left ideas, but to me that's not enough. No political
background.

(1,151 posts)Even if we take back Congress in November and the WH in 2020, it will take YEEEEEEAAAAARS to undo all the damage cause by 45 and the GOP, if we can even undo it all. It may be too late in many cases.

(30,481 posts)The discussions are more often than not completely void of ideology or any standard metric related to progressive potential. But it was a good speech. It happens regularly.

(16,179 posts)Certain moments seem orchestrated in American politics.
Russian bots are already out there making disgusting racist comments while pretending to be moderate liberals. The media has been playing up the Oprah as a top democratic 2020 candidate BEFORE this speech happened.

Or they are just moderate liberals. We should not negate the scope of racism with comments like this.

(10,124 posts)That's a no brainer. I'd take nearly anyone over Trump.
I really like her and respect her. But I'm not sure about her experience and whether she would be the best candidate for the job.
I would definitely give her some consideration.
Although she said she would never do it, I think Michelle Obama might make a great president.
The problem with both those candidates is that once you take out racists and misogynists, there may not be enough of the electorate left for black women to have a fair chance right now - as wrong as that is. I hope Oprah gets polled to give us some idea of where we are at there.

(31,516 posts)of President needs someone with some kind of political experience.

(32,083 posts)After he gave that first one, many people were spouting "Keith for President." I love Keith. I like Oprah. I'm not sure I'd want either of them as President. (Well, unless the only other choice is the grossly unfit assclown we have now. I'd take either of them ANY DAY over the excrement that occupies the White House now.)

(14,971 posts)fucking joke. I wont vote for anybody without government experience. I also question Oprahs judgement as shes embraced a bunch of quacks in the medical field. I dont want an anti- vaxxer as President.

(16,245 posts)She represents all that is wrong with this country. She has promoted charlatans like Dr. Oz and done immeasurable harm.
I won't vote for her and will actively work against her if she is the nominee.

(16,245 posts)Intellect is in short enough supply in the Republican party and DC as a whole. We should not be promoting it in the Democratic Party as well.

(40,416 posts)Why? One may ask. Let's look at who Oprah has inflicted on the world.
Dr. Oz, the physician who hasn't seen a quack remedy he won't support.
Dr. Phil, "I was the worst marriage counselor on the planet." Who Oprah promotes as a fucking marriage counselor!
Jenny McCarthy, a mind untroubled by thought, but beyond that, an ignorant anti-vaccination kook.
John of God, Brazilian megachurch scammer, who also will cure your cancer with fucking psychic surgery!!!
I wouldn't vote for Oprah for local dog catcher!

(13 posts)The very idea of her running for President makes me want to vomit a little in my mouth. Yes, she's an articulate, well-thoughtout speaker. Yes, as a nation we're yearning for someone literate in the White House. But she knows as much about legislation and governance as Trump does - and that's next to nothing. STOP with this ridiculousness. It makes Dems look desperate and silly.
I'm sure she is a perfectly nice woman, but NONONONONO
I want an experienced politician, no more actors or business
people or celebrities of any sort.

(3,001 posts)And maybe that's important when running against Trump.
Unfortunately, career politicians don't usually have the ability...
I hope and trust that Oprah will work hard to bring the vote out for our primary winner. She has a tremendous following that could help sway the election for the winner.

(1,222 posts)I admire her heart. It is what we are truly missing and deperately need in the nebula of Washington DC.
She isnt currently my first choice but I would happily vote for her if she became the nominee.
I was ecstatic to cast my vote for Clinton although I fervently supported Bernie throughout the primary.
Just give me a Democrat in control.
