Trump's lawyers really DO NOT want Mueller to interview him face-to-face:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/initial-talks-underway-about-trump-interview-mueller-russia-probe-n835506

Lawyers for Trump have been discussing with FBI investigators a possible interview by the special counsel with the president as part of the inquiry into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election.

The discussions were described by one person with direct knowledge as preliminary and ongoing. Trump’s legal team is seeking clarification on whether the president would be interviewed directly by Mueller, as well as the legal standard for when a president can be interviewed, the location of a possible interview, the topics and the duration. But the president’s team is also seeking potential compromises that could avoid an interview altogether, two of those interviewed told NBC News.

...

In addition to the possibility of suggesting the president submit written responses in place of an interview, a second person familiar with the president’s legal strategy said another possibility being contemplated was an affidavit signed by the president affirming he was innocent of any wrongdoing and denying any collusion.

----------------

Next time the cops interrogate you, just offer them a written statement wherein you assure them that you're innocent. That should do the trick.

A skilled investigator will have Trump making up lies to cover his lies, and then more lies to cover his lie-covering lies.

I'd suggest that his lawyers wear their brown pants to the interview.

In this situation are very high.

Mueller will repeatedly put him in a situations where he can admit something incriminating, take the 5th or lie.

Cheeto man’s first instinct is to lie.

First, he would grab Mueller's hand, pull it into him, and try to extend the handshake like he's got him trapped. After that we would see Trump leaning over the table putting on his best intimidating face, then trying to get up and pace behind Mueller to loom over him, trying to ignore anything he doesn't want to respond to, going off into one of his monologues with no content whatsoever, and finally trying to just get up and leave the room like he does at press conferences when asked something he doesn't want to address.

Oh please, let them televise this Live, it would become an instant classic!

If there are reports that trumps lawyers are negotiating, then a formal request has likely been made. Why negotiate something that hasn't been asked yet?

Just my hunch. Oh, and the first 5 questions will be ego soothing softballs. Trump loves to hear compliments. It will open him right up.....

wanting Trump to talk to Mueller and his team directly, because Trump thinks he's smarter than everyone else and capable of outwitting the investigation's lawyers - which, of course, he is not. He will dig his own legal grave with his own tongue, and they know that.
