(16,646 posts)She's always been a light touch on politics. She made like one endorsement of Obama and then basically walked away. There is some belief that she can hurt as much as help. As popular as she is with her audience, that is still a small minority of the voting population. And she can easily be as much a lighting rod as anything.
That said, none of us really know what she does behind the scenes.

(31,989 posts)So there's that. I think she'd be too polarizing.
Then again, what decent, intelligent, person would they like? LOL. Dummy Donnie is more their speed.

(42,307 posts)She gave a great acceptance speech last night. Some are buzzing about her political prospects. So what? It's a long way to 2020. We need to focus on 2018.
And stop attacking possible Democratic contenders.
people are just sick of egotistical celebrities thinking they have what it takes to be PRESIDENT
politicaljunkie41910
(3,335 posts)President. If she chose to, I'mese someone convinced her she had to do if for her country, since running for President means she would have to give up her privacy, and I think she's a relatively private person. She'd have to work really hard because she wouldn't take the job and then sit on her butt and watch Fox and Friends all day like the Dotard does.
So give it a rest. Stop hating on her. She's done nothing to deserve it.

(27,806 posts)She also named her TV network after herself. She has every right to do these thing, but those are hardly the acts of someone with her ego in check.

(42,307 posts)She's already said she's not interested in running. I saw some pretty vicious attacks on her here, not on the media.

Truth is though I think we're done with non-politicians for a while in this country.

(17,303 posts)It's not clear whether Oprah will run for the nomination or not, but I agree with you. I could do without 50 Oprah threads a day for the next while.
We have evil Donny to worry about first and foremost.

(21,646 posts)was to Oprah's public endorsement . Some comments are going as far as to paint a picture of an Oprah diss of Clinton during the election

(4,835 posts)Not sure how vocal she was about HRC - but there is this...
Apparently she never endorsed anyone until BHO.

The reason why I havent been vocal, other than saying Im with her, is because I didnt know what to say that could actually pierce through all the noise and the chaos and the disgusting vitriol thats going on and actually be heard, Winfrey told the Dallas-based pastor T.D. Jakes, according to an excerpt of the hourlong sitdown to air next Thursday.
But there really is no choice, people. All the people sitting around talking about they cant decide. This is what I what I wanna say wait a minute, she said, silencing Jakes to make her point. I hear this all the time. You get into conversations and theres not a person in this room who hasnt been in this same conversation where people say, I just dont know if I like her.
But you dont have to, Winfrey said, stressing thats not the question voters should be asking.
Shes not coming over to your house! You dont have to like her, she said. You dont have to like her. Do you like this country? Do you like this country? You better get out there and vote. Do you like the country? Do you like freedom and liberty? Do you like this country? OK. Do you like democracy or do you want a demagogue?

(14,971 posts)What baffles me is that Grover Norquist, Bill Kristol , John Podhoretz and a lot of other conservatives adore her. Maybe because of her economic views.
