For eight years Republicans taunted Obama on his 'red line' remarks on Syria; constantly called him "weak," and accused him of "leading from behind." It was obvious what they were doing. They were trying to GOAD him into jumping the country into another STUPID war. "Ready, FIRE, AIM!"
Why would they want to do that? To feed the FALSE EQUIVALENCE narrative.
"If BOTH parties get us into stupid wars, they're basically the same on that count. So you may as well vote for the party that can eat the most APPLE PIE (ie-Republicans).
If BOTH parties waste money, and explode deficits, they're basically the same on that count. So, you may as well vote for the party that wraps itself in the biggest flag of faux patriotism. (ie-Republicans).
If BOTH parties are there to serve the top 1%, they're basically the same on that account. So, you may as well vote for the party that lets us keep out GUNS, so we can shoot the repo-man as he comes to reposes themy car."
George W. Bush threw the country into a stupid war that cost trillions, killed thousands of U.S. soldiers, and accomplished nothing. Meanwhile, he blew the deficits to smitherines with stupid tax cuts that did NOTHING to stimulate the economy.
If they could get Obama to do the same things, they would have succeeded in proving that there is no practical difference between the Parties, so you may as well vote for the party that makes you "feel" good by smothering you in faux patriotism.
Well guess what, you f#@kers,...Obama DIDN'T FALL FOR IT. MISSION (not) ACCOMPLISHED.
Well...now we can add another item to the list of stupid things the Republican Party has done, that they must now try to get the Democratic Party to do as well. Namely, NOMINATING A TV STAR, who hasn't spent a SINGLE DAY in Government to be President.
It's been a long time since I've seen the Republicans get THIS excited of anything Oprah Winfrey has done. But if you want to help them prove that both Parties are equally stupid, just keep pushing the idea of Oprah Winfrey for President.
I know, I know...there is practically no similarity between Winfrey and Trump. Trump is an amoral, arrogant, addlebrained spoiled brat, who was given millions of dollars and lots of help from his father to get his business started, and STILL managed to fail. REPEATEDLY. Winfrey is a brilliant woman, with a genuine rags to riches story, who is very in tune with public sentiments. But for all that, she has one thing in common with Trump. She's never spent a single day trying to run a government at even the lowest level.
Let's not destroy the one obvious difference between the Democratic and the Republican Parties. Democrats believe that expertise is an asset, and Republicans believe it's a vice. That's not something to throw away.

a keen intelligence, lots of heart, the big picture and the ability to learn quickly. And that is what you missed. That is what Trump is missing.

(53,776 posts)Oprah's smarts could run circles around W's any time, and trump's smarts are non-existent.
But she's not running so cool it with trashing her. She made generous donations to O and Hillary.
You realize that you are talking about the person who gave us Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz, who couldn't be bigger quacks if they were a flock of ducks.
