WaPo: Opposition research on Winfrey not so hard

The Washington Post has given us a preview of what to expect should today's runaway celebrity-worshipping culture chase its cause of the week. As expected, there are plenty of stories in Oprah Winfrey's background that should keep Democrats focused on more fully vetted and proven public sector leaders as potential presidential nominees.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/01/09/oprah-might-run-for-president-we-did-the-opposition-research-for-you/?tid=pm_pop&utm_term=.1f39b7b269c7

Among them:
-Oprah and a child abuse sex scandal
-Oprah turned a cancer patient onto junk science
-Oprah caused a hamburger panic
-Oprah defended a fake book
-Oprah thinks some Americans need to die
-Oprah palled around with Harvey Weinstein

They close by noting that "fair or not, it's the stuff attack ads are made of."

I do remember the idiocy of TX ranchers taking her to court because a guest on her show said Mad Cow disease may eventually reach US shores.

I wonder if those same idiot ranchers lost heads of cattle when it actually did reach US shores.

But it's a moot point I believe. My guess is she won't run. It is bemusing though, watching a lot of chicken littles making much ado about falling skies and celebrities all being the same.

But he white and male

I’m sure Oprah isn’t going to run, and all this...drama..is kind of unnecessary, I’m am not, let’s just say, a fan of hers either, in certain respects- BUT the media will never lose a chance to drag a Black woman down as fast as they possibly can.

As far as the media is concerned, GOP candidates aren't expected to have morals, intelligence, ethics, etc. The bar is set impossibly low for them.

That includes Oprah.

I have no idea what her stances are on the issues, but she has a wonderful personality.

Let's see who else wants to run.

And let's make sure that the DNC and the Democratic organizers let Democratic voters pick the candidate. That's the best way to pick a candidate.

It's great to run a candidate with political experience, but they have to have a personality and charisma that wins over the voters.

Let's see who that is for 2020. If we choose a strong candidate who runs the gauntlet of opposition research and has good ideas when it comes to the issues AND who has that special something that Obama and JFK had -- charisma, we will win. And winning is the point when you run for president.

No pre-cooked, frozen candidates need apply.

Oprah might be able to run the gauntlet of that negative research. She might not. But if she wants to try, I will support her trying. Who I will vote for --
I don't yet know.

America deserves the best president, someone the majority of voters and not just the majority of the electoral college voters, trust and want to be president.
