All the Money in the World: Mark Wahlberg Was Paid Millions More Than Michelle Williams For Reshoots
The first two comments were:
I haven't seen this movie and I know nothing about it except that Christopher Plummer replaced the skeevy Kevin Spacey.
Regardless, what are your thoughts re: these two comments?

(6,399 posts)I'm not even going to try and parse the second.
This is all about the producers side of things. Hell, Ridley Scott didn't think ANYONE got paid for the reshoots. Wahlbergs agents put in and did this. Wahlberg likely didn't even know and as mentioned on GMA today he'll probably donate it to charity.

(9,527 posts)Per her own words, she volunteered to do the reshoots for free in order to help replace Kevin Spacey in the film. Another contradiction is that Wahlberg and Williams are represented by the same agency. Probably not the same specific agent, but in the same range.
Also the director Ridley Scott says Wahlberg did the reshoots for free as well.

(6,399 posts)The only one who probably got paid is Plummer since he was completely new to it.
Reshoots happen in EVERY movie and actors are not paid extra for them. They're built into the process. This movie is an exception because of what happened with Kevin Spacey.

(6,399 posts)Hence the problems with sexual assault as there's no real "HR" but that also factors into pay and the like.
This film is just a weird exception.

(63,208 posts)I don't know the backstory, so I'm reluctant to say that anyone is lying, but the whole thing seems weird.
The info you've provided makes the primary story seem rather fishy, to be sure.

(9,985 posts)Since agents are paid with a percentage of clients' pay, it obviously behooves them to get the most they can for their clients. It's whoever cuts the paycheck who has the power, not the agent.
As for the second comment, bullshit AFAIC. Example, I love both Bette Davis and Errol Flynn as actors. I'll watch anything she's in. I won't watch anything he's in.

(63,208 posts)It diminishes both male and female viewers, all to justify unfair pay for female performers.

(65,013 posts)The first one may be true, maybe not. The second reason is ridiculously invalid.

(12,022 posts)Ridley Scott said that everyone agreed to do the re-shoots for nearly free. Michelle Williams said of course she'd do it -- they all wanted the movie to be completed.
But Mark Wahlberg wouldn't do it without a big payday, and his negotiations were done in secret.
So everyone else was working as a dedicated team, and Marky Mark was a money grubbing jerk who knew he was secretly getting paid more than everyone else.
And someone found out and leaked it.
