Trumps likes his Big Macs and Fish Filets from McDonald's. Does the White House kitchen staff actually go to a McDonald's or do they make the sandwiches themselves? I recall that there are online recipes for reproducing the famous fast-food sandwiches. It's hard to believe that they would send out for food but with Trump, who knows?
The second thought is this: What do the White House chefs think of Trump's food habits? I mean, these are world-class chefs who can prepare awesome meals but they're being tasked with making a cheeseburger! One of the perks of living in the White House, for me, would be the incredible cuisine one can have. But Trump wants a processed fish sandwich.
He's an idiot.

(47,026 posts)I wonder also how he handles food in the WH.
Edited to add: If Trump becomes more paranoid, his danger level rises.
So the food question is an important one. It may give us a indication of how
paranoid he is at the present time.

(47,026 posts)That is why I am asking the question.
If Trump sees the WH food as dangerous, then we know his paranoia has increased.

(16,334 posts)that does not bother me in the least. Last I read, he sends people out for this stuff.
The chefs can cook for Melania.

(182,791 posts)The part about fear of poisoning is from Wolff, I'd never heard that before. I had heard that he likes McD because of his germaphobia. Fast food has certain standards (called regulations) so he trusts them. In Lewandowski's forgotten book from a few months ago there was a story about Trump leaving one of his aides at a McD on the campaign trail because he'd made a special order and it was taking too long. Just left him.
I happened to have lunch in December with a gentleman who'd worked in the WH for several decades. I told the story about replicating the zing Macs and he starting cracking up. He said that we had no idea the lengths the WH chefs went to create really fantastic meals everyday. From daily regulars to any special order the first family and senior staff could want.

(9,985 posts)It was and I'm sure still is staffed largely by immigrants. I remember when the Clintons came to town and Bill went over to 17th Street and introduced himself at that McDonald's and hugged the staff.
And I know how I'd feel if I were one of the current staff packaging an order for this White House... blechh.

(652 posts)I don't think it matters why Trump prefers junk food over fine cuisine.
My husband is the same way. If he were president, he'd have zero appreciation for the chefs' food. He eats out at fast food places for breakfast and lunch every day. A couple times a week, he goes out to eat right before dinner is served at home.
I don't know anyone else who is a fast-foodie. I just figure we are all entitled to eat what we want, because my opinion, his doctor's opinion, and my cooking expertise don't change my husband's behavior.
I eat whatever I feel like eating. It is my choice that this is mostly healthy food. Same goes for Trump, it is his choice. I don't think it has a thing to do with being afraid he will be poisoned. He likes what he likes, and he has found a way to rationalize it, is all.
Trump and my husband have something in common. They both think that because they've decided something, it is true, no matter the evidence to the contrary. I don't understand this at all -- and I've always wondered what causes it.
This stance, which goes way beyond food choices, has caused our family a lot of major problems. Trump's love of fast food is only the tip of the iceberg.
