The "shithole countries" remark was definitely "informed" by his innate racism and bigotry. But I'm willing to bet that, if someone mentioned all the good immigrants from Namibia were doing, he would take that on board and believe it until someone else told him that Namibia was a "shithole country".

I'm not making excuses for him. I just think he is extremely feeble minded. He has no concept of politics in foreign countries. He has no idea what immigrants from those countries are doing here, their contributions. When his utter lack of knowledge is brought to light, he reverts to the racism and bigotry of just calling all immigrants "bad'. He considers doing so to be safe because the GOP will back him and he knows his base eats it up.
