It's not just the word "shithole", it's the racism before and after that word that's offensive

Trump saying the word "shithole" is not what's offensive. Using that word just rubs salt into the wound of racism. Now, the Trump apologists are focusing in on that word as if that's the only offensive part of that statement. They are comparing the vulgarity with that of other Presidents and marginalizing the racism.

"Why do we need more Haitians? Why do we need more African refugees? Why can't we get more people to come here from Norway? Sign me up for more Western Europeans coming here."

You don't need the word "shithole" to be offended by those obvious racist remarks, and that's the point we need to hammer home.

and it is the MEANING behind the word. not that a 'president' or other 'high official' used the word.

But , heh, heh, that's the distortion- intentional in some cases, and ignorant in others.
