(51,590 posts)reelection I was so depressed and disheartened. I chose to go to Nice, France and Amsterdam, Holland or else I was going to lose my mind. It helped. Unfortunately I do not have the same opportunity now. This country is driving me insane! We must RESIST in every way possible and get people who are rational to vote!

(841 posts)Although it is still early in Trump's first term (which will hopefully be his last), in my opinion the Iraq War alone makes Bush worse than Trump. The Iraq War killed hundreds of thousands of people, created a huge refugee crisis, destabilized the Middle East and led to the rise of ISIS. This is not even getting into the widespread corruption, the botching of the response to Hurricane Katrina, the attack on civil liberties and other bad policies from the Bush years.

(9,117 posts)A lot of us thought that the Iraq War and Dubyas disastrous economic policies would have taught the voters to shy away from right-wing Republicans. Not only did the old saying that The burned hand teaches best seemed to be an idea that made good, basic, common sense, but I believed that a plurality of American voters of BOTH parties believed strongly enough in the ideas of good government and the idea that government served the interests of ALL the people that Hillary was going to squeak by in 2016.
What worries me is that too many swing-state voters STILL havent wised up and that the economy is going to have to go way south before the denizens of Red State Dumb-cluck-istan finally get the hunch that those Republicans they voted for arent their buddies after all.
