(30,613 posts)I was rear-ended while waiting for a red light. I was pushed under the car in front of me at such high speed that they went airborne, and two cars ahead of them were also hit. The whole chain reaction powered by a single Cadillac Escalator.

(38,311 posts)The car landed behind me upside down, spinning on it's roof.
It took me a second to process what had happened, a car flying past me upside down.
Everybody stopped. The guy in the upside down car was hanging by his seatbelt.
People got him out of his car, and then they flipped his car back over and pushed it off to the side of the road. I just pulled over and waited. I had kids in my car, and it didn't look like anyone was hurt.
Somebody handed me my side mirror.
The police came and I told them what I'd seen.
The guy who had caused the accident was not the guy who'd flipped over. The guy who'd caused the accident later disappeared.
I don't insure my cars against any kind of damage, it's not worth it, since we buy our cars well used, but I was able to reinstall the mirror with minimal parts and expense.
There was no other functional damage to our car but the long scratches that always made me think
My kid later had this car in college. He lent it to classmates and they wrecked it. That's another story.
I liked that car.
