He could have been a really great Senator. He was just too squirrelly as far as I am concerned. And he was not really a maverick either. He was really on just a GOP loyalist.

(26,260 posts)And I base that solely on what I experienced with my Dad. McCcain has that same look in his eyes as my Dad's, when the brain tumor started to prove its invincibility.
As much as I do not like McCain's politics, my heart is breaking for him, and for his family.

My heart breaks for Senator McCain and his family and if I could hug them right now, I would.

If nothing else hes taught us a lot about how people can do both good and bad things. I wish him a peaceful passage.

(3,181 posts)I like him and respect him, while also thinking he is a jerk. He was very respectful towards Obama in '08 but ran with Sarah Palin, who was the pre-Trump, appealing to America's worse instincts.
All in all, I wish him well.
