If there is a tape, the White House could have produced it right away to show that Lord Littlehands wasn't being a potty-mouthed racist. Instead, the story festered in the news cycle until it became apparent that not everyone loved Donnie's tough talk. At which point we were treated to a parade of sycophants claiming, alternately, that they'd heard no such naughty word or that it was a different naughty word or shut up, you're embarrassing the President.

Just bring out the tape, play it, and show the American people that Donnie doesn't resort to schoolyard talk to cover his own insecurities and deficiencies. But no, the tape - if it still exists - remains safely tucked away from the American people who paid for it.
