but even more excited that my dear wife grabbed her pussy hat, fired up her Dodge Ram 2500, slid out our 3/4 mile driveway, continued sliding down our 5 miles of gravel road and met up with a group in our little town and car pooled 20 miles to the county seat for their march. Now she may have done this just to leave me feeding all the livestock this morning but probably not.

What makes this interesting is that our county is solid RED. Larger than the state of Connecticut, more cattle than humans, located in north central WA and did I mention......solid RED. If there are a couple hundred people marching it would like having hundreds of thousands marching in a major metropolitan area.

Things are changing and I'm grateful that folks everywhere are waking up and realizing that living in a democratically elected, representative form of government is not a spectator sport. I hope she takes some pictures, if so, I'll post them later.

Little follow up, dear wife did not take pictures but said that two different people counted over 400 marchers in our little county seat for today's event. Only thing that gets a bigger turnout than that is the Rodeo. Lots of horn honking and thumbs up to the marchers. Of course they had to have the Town Idiot show up driving his pic-em-up truck with confederate battle flag who took a couple of passes, got no response and left.

All and all a very delightful event and I'm so proud of her for going that I'm not going to make her feed all the animals tomorrow by herself (yeah like I ever get to tell that woman to do anything )

and it was great to follow this online instead of driving 50 miles to the city. We all have to do what we can to save the environment too. For me, that's accepting that living in a special rural area means not burning up the highway a lot.

We do a lot of carpooling, batching reasons for making the drive to town etc.

An exciting development has been the use of webinar software so different communities in the county can connect with one another for meetings. Rather than having to drive 50 to 100 miles we have meeting places in each little town but all of those meeting places communicate with one another in real time. Very cool and getting better all the time.

71. 2018 Women's Marches may have been the largest demonstration in US history, 4.2 million
Wed Jan 24, 2018, 02:20 AM
Jan 2018

As expected and as I said, this was historic. Now the numbers are in to back up the perception.

https://www.vox.com/2017/1/22/14350808/womens-marches-largest-demonstration-us-history-map

Crowd estimates from Women’s Marches on Saturday now tally over 4 million and political scientists think we may have just witnessed the largest day of demonstrations in American history.

According to data collected by Erica Chenoweth at the University of Denver and Jeremy Pressman at the University of Connecticut, marches held in more than 600 US cities were attended by at least 4.2 million people.

https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/BXDUB57TVKVJtYW4QXqYlV0KJ0w=/800x0/filters:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/7902807/Artboard_9.png

“Even using a conservative estimate, it was the single largest day for a demonstration in the US,” Chenoweth, an expert on political protests and civil resistance, told us.

Every state in America hosted a Women’s March, as you can see in the map above. The events ranged from tiny gatherings in small town squares to throngs of more than 500,000 people clogging streets in cities like Washington, DC, and Los Angeles.
