Your spirit emblodened our cause.
I felt so uplifted being around others who are experiencing the pain of the attack on our democracy.
Thank you

(263 posts)Yes, and this march encompasses the "get out and vote". You have to make noise for people to hear.

(11,531 posts)By a progressive trying for congresswoman in my district.
Will be hard because most of district is conservative and rural.
She sounded great though and they asked for help canvassing so the march went with and got volunteers for voting, very important.

(24,654 posts)We had voter registration tables, pledges to vote, pledges to register X number of people to vote in next thirty days, sign up sheets to drive voters to the polls for both primaries and general this year, etc. A decent percentage of signs referenced voting. Candidates running for office addressed the crowd prior to the commencement of the march.
Marching is not just admirable, it's mobilizing. It is a GOTV effort.

(51,794 posts)Last year, I went to the Los Angeles Women's March, along with about a million other people, literally. But this year, I decided to go to the one closer to home in Santa Ana (Orange County) since I have been focused on local races, and in particular flipping my House rep Dana Rohrabacher's seat to blue. Looks like a lot of people had the same idea. The OC Women's March was way bigger this year than it was last year.
It was really inspiring to see all those protesters in a supposedly "red" place like Orange County. The blue wave is coming!

(1,104 posts)Seattle might have had a smaller turnout this year over last but it was pretty cold and was supposed to rain so I think some probably stayed home....
Was fun..... One of my favorite things was when the one Wingnut had a sign that said something about 'drop your signs and follow Jesus" and a lady next to him had a sign pointing at him that said "will never get any pussy"

(21,258 posts)Even today my old feet and legs are feeling the effects of that march yesterday.
But it was worth it. And I will be voting in November .

(28,979 posts)I must have told a hundred people today that they might be standing in the rain outside the statehouse, but each one represented 1000s who could not be there. The thought kept us warm.
