(5,477 posts)Current rate is $.50 for a 1st class letter of 1 ounce or under (new rate went into effect as of yesterday).
Costco has 'forever' stamps for a little less. We stocked up a few years ago when there was a rate drop to $.47 (due to a weirdness in the way the government operated), so out rate is still a little under $.47.

All unused USPS stamps from 1862 to date are still valid for usage!
