She lives in another town works professionally for a private Universty and her apartment is located in a dorm. Having lived there 4 years she gets all her mail on campus. There is nothing on her voter registration mailer that indicates she lived here and no redirection markings sending the voter registration here. It has been six years since she lived at home. We live in a State infested with Republican scum what are they trying to prove?

(25,853 posts)Pretend it's an honest mistake. But have her register again with her current address, and then, does Missouri allow a person to look up their registration on line? I kind of think all states do. Hope so.
Actually, she should look up her registration on line to start with. Then re register as needed.

(15,237 posts)Think about this they sent this to an address she has not used for several years. Just how did they know to send it the old address? Who sent it and how did the local Post Office know to deliver it here?

I am feeling slightly confused.
In any case, if her registration for her current address is up to date and valid, I wouldn't worry much about it, other than perhaps to re-verify her registration about thirty days before the next time she votes.
Stranger things have happened than mail sent to a long unused address.

I suppose there's the possibility that it was deliberately sent to an old address so that if it had been returned, that could be an excuse to cancel her registration. I know some states have done things along those lines, but again, I'll (possibly naively) go with the honest mistake explanation and not worry.
If she wants to pursue this further, she might want to verify her current address and do her best to make sure any and all old addresses are removed.

If it is, has she registered at her new address, or at any time in the last 6 years?
If she is still listed as registered at your address, this may be simply to confirm that she still lives there. Simply re-registering at her present address may solve that.
It could possibly be some slick campaign crap designed to look official-- a close look at the fine print could be enlightening.
On edit-- I see she is properly registered, which leads me to think it's some campaign trickery using an old mailing list.

(43,049 posts)as long as she's properly registered it could be just an outdated mail database.
The government agency I work for hasn't gotten my address straight for years-- some departments use an old list no matter how much I complain. And, it took 5 years for the VA to figure out which address is the current one.

(29,674 posts)New voter ID cards were recently mailed out. A friend works in our county office and said there have been discrepancies for addresses and such but receiving it now gives everyone time to clear it up before an April vote.
Mail it or drop it off with her and tell her to go to the local county court house to get it straightened out.
BTW-what part of the state are you both in?
