How strong is the bi-partisan coalition in the Senate led by Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski?

Does it in any way weaken Trump's support in the Senate?

Does it give the Democrats any leverage?

Will they stick together on other issues besides "opening up our government"?

If they do stick together, what would that mean if there were impeachment charges or if Trump decided to fire Robert Mueller? Trump is dependent on the Party division for his survival.

Was this "coalition" good or bad for our country?

Is the Republican Party weaker or stronger today, after the shutdown?

There won't be impeachment charges - that comes from House, and House will never vote for impeachment unless run by Democrats in large measure. If Democrats take House - I think just the real actual oversight and intelligence investigations alone will do Trump in.

Need group of Senators in the center who are willing to push their parties on different issues - we only give outer fringes attention. Need to shun them and focus on the center.

But I don"t think that the left or right can be shunned?

It is political necessity to get the government out of the grasp of the authoritarian now holding power. He wants to control it all, not just the executive branch, but the legislature and the judicial branch also. He is well on his way, so this is an encouraging development, in my opinion.
