We got a call from the DNC

They were asking for donations.

My wife answered the phone and was hit immediately with a barrage of words and pressure to donate $250. She could barely get a word in.
This caused us a lot of stress.
Finally they took no for an answer after she voiced her displeasure with the ousting of Franken.
She hung up and was stressed.

My point is that I hope this isn't the normal technique.
If this is how callers are trained they need to stop this now in our opinion.
Just talk to people like humans instead of acting like a rapid fire sales machine.

No questions about issues? Just "give me money"? If so, that's pretty bad consensus building.

If I did I'd hang up early.

That being said. I NEVER donate from a call and I always tell them if I would never donate to someone who called me because I didn't initiate the call. I don't trust anyone that calls me that I do not know.

I tell them if they knew who I was they'd see I donate online anyway.

6. Never would give a credit card to any caller from any org. If it was high pressure even more

suspicious but that's me. If they wanted a commitment and followed by a letter it's different
Once years ago I asked them to not call anymore and after a few times they do not bother me so there is that. When you decide you want to return to donations you can renew the contact

8. I want to add that there were scams when Obama fever started and now that I think

of it, we may be entering another fever rise(good for Dems) and that is when the bad people come out to join
when they can take advantage of certain scenarios like that for money. I got two calls first election I'm in Chicago, asking for 'Obama donations' that I would bet a million that neither were legit and I asked questions because I was familiar with the campaign.
One I remember was very high pressure fast talking and when I asked questions of course they knew how to bs and the other I don't remember details but it was unprofessional and if you hang up they just go on for the one that takes the hook , just fishing , someone else will say I have been waiting for you to call and thinking about donating how can I help ?

Maybe that wasn't your situation and you pretty much knew it was the dnc calling, but I will just put this out to DU again >people - don't give over the phone if they called you.

...Sears, Sacramento Bee, HSN, As Seen on TV crap etc....anyway the ppl calling you are getting paid per minute and they probably aren't even with the Dem Party. We had all kinds of political fundraisers to cold call about. I hate getting those calls as well, and when I get them I say right up front I NEVER EVER EVER NEVER give my cc# to anyone who calls me. I ask for a pledge card or some info and they usually will comply.

But if I don't feel like being nice, but don't want to be a B-word either, I will click off the phone mid sentence like I'm an incompetent boob. woopsie...

Don't worry about hurting their feelings....another call in the queue is available.
