Here's the offer. I want a path to citizenship for each DACA recipient and a path for their parents, as sponsored family members.
In exchange, Trump get's funding authorization for 10% of the cost of wall. The wall is estimated to cost $18 Billion. So, we authorize $1.8 Billion. Since we want to help Trump keep his campaign promises, once the U.S. Treasury gets a check (and it clears) for $1.8 Billion from Mexico, we will authorize another 10% (or $1.8 Billion) and so on.
This is a good faith effort to accommodate the President* by authorizing American tax dollars to begin the process.
Mr. President*, you said Mexico would pay and we are willing to put up the first 10% and have faith that you can get that reimbursed so we can authorize the next 10%. Remember, the money must come from Mexico. I have faith that you can carry this out. After all, you are the world's greatest deal maker.

I say - fund his stupid wall. Republicans want a boondoggle monument to their bigotry and idiocy in the middle of the desert? It's theirs. They can wear it around their necks forever.
I doubt it will be 10% completed by the time Gump is thrown out of office anyway. We can cut our losses at that point and defund it.

Well, for the Dreamers, anyway. What good have the Knavs (dunno how to pluralize that) done for the US?

(10,872 posts)Trump is so damn rich, and he builds the best things, so all the Senate needs to do is give Trump permission to build the wall himself. He can then charge Mexico whatever he wants in any way of his choosing, but as a private citizen. Since he is such a "great negotiator" it will be a great deal for him.
Then we can stop wasting our time on this foolish notion and get back to the real work of governing our country.
