Him, his family (minus the wife) practically his entire cabinet, mucho flunkies, security...this guy is using up every available dollar in the US Treasury while at the same time having that A$$ Treasury Secretary weakens the dollar which they say will be good for trade but...no surprise...bad for us.

(9,895 posts)I know, it is hard to tell is Hicks or Haley filling the role this week? Are they both there is some new dystopian "reality" TV show being live-acted for the ego of the man-baby in chief?...personally, I hope he is hitting the sheets with Huckabee's mutant offspring and having her husband listen in for kicks...that whole crowd of boo-licking sycophants and miserable bastards deserve to eat their own in an orgy of Caligula-esque grotesque theater of the absurd.

(65,021 posts)Every president visits other countries with huge entourages including trusted members of staff and personal advisors, often including the spouse. (BHO took his wife on such missions.)
The cost of it seems like one of the rants i would expect from the RWNJ's when Obama did something similar.
The fact that we can't stand this idiot, and that the idiot is an incompetent and dangerous boob, doesn't detract from the fact that taking these sorts of trips to summit meeting are part of the job of POTUS. The fact that we don't like who is POTUS doesn't change that.

(35,454 posts)of the ENORMOUS Entourage going. It may not bother you, his draining of the treasury but it bothers me. His nearly weekly trips to Mar A Lago, the cost of his sons doing TRump business around the world, billions for a wall that isn't needed. All of it when the Dems had to fight for CHIP.
And I take exception to you calling this a RWNJ rant.
Oh and Ps. Obama did nothing like.

(16,646 posts)He said it was similar to, or reminiscent of, such a rant.
A better point of comparison may be some of Clinton's early trips where he brought along the Sec of Commerce and a bunch of business leaders. It was an attempt to drum up alot of export business for us. My understanding is that Trump has some similar plans, although I'm dubious he will have anywhere near the success that Clinton did.

It's the "Rahm didn't call you retarded, he said your ideas were retarded" defense.

(35,454 posts)And, as Rachel stated, the list is incomplete as the WH has said, not all those going have been listed. For instance...Ivanka will be going but is not on this list.
Here's a partial list...
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross
Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta
Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao
Energy Secretary Rick Perry
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen
U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer
U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Mark Green
National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins
Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb
Homeland security advisor Tom Bossert
White House advisor and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner
White House advisor Chris Liddell
Other officials who will go to Switzerland but are not part of the official delegation include White House chief of staff John Kelly, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, national security advisor H.R. McMaster and Cohn.

(65,021 posts)1. I accused you of nothing. I said it reminded me of the things people said about Obama. If you infer i called your rant RWNJ, then admit it was your inference, not my implication.
2. I never mentioned the golf adventures. Those, as a recurring theme, bug the crap out of me, as well.
3. The wall has nothing to do with this discussion although i too, oppose that stupid idea.
4. The idiot sons running businesses has nothing to do with this discussion. We are talking about the Davos trip.
5. CHIP was not part of this discussion until you moved the goal posts. This was about the Davos trip.
5. Yes, BHO did take these types of trips because that is the job of the POTUS. If he didn't he would have been derelict in his duty and we all know he was never such. I would be surprised if you were implying that BHO did not do his job properly.

(35,454 posts)You Certainly Did Infer Such
And while the subject started with Davos, the point also being made is/was how much money we taxpayers are on the hook for just generally, by pointing out other extravagant ways he is costing us a bundle. There is no need for the size entourage he is taking. Especially considering the last two presidents didnt attend at all. He 's doing it for show.
As to his sons, their continual business trips both in the US and abroad are also a huge cost to the taxpayer as they each travel with an entourage of security wherever they go.

Trump is attending to both boast to and confront the crowd that disdains him

(50,557 posts)I just checked the Trump Hotels website. He owns three properties in Europe. One is in Ireland and the other two in Scotland. This means he can't profit from taking his whole crew to Europe, and we should be able to get a cheaper rate.
Since going to international conferences is part of what presidents are supposed to do, I'm not going to get too pissed off about this.
OTOH, if the orange bastard figures out a way to spend his entire trip on a golf course - and you know he's thinking of it, since he couldn't go to his anniversary party during the shutdown he engineered - I WILL get pissed off about it.

(22,121 posts)What is really the goal of such trips? Will they accomplish a new trade amendment...hum, can't be that, tRUMP is canceling all of them.
Security agreements? No, it can't be this, tRUMP hates all of these like his little fit about the benefits of NATO.
To bring business to his hotels and/or other businesses? Nope, none of them there. Perhaps to chat w/ some of his Russian buddies? Hmmm, a valid possibility. To chat w/ some of his crony friends about bringing more business to his hotels or perhaps buy a new site for a hotel and/or business Hum, possible.
Perhaps to plaster his face on the front page as to the good he's doing? Nope, far late in anybody's book. If anything, what will be plastered is whatever stupid and/or dumb thing(s) he's done over there, while portraying the 'Ugly American'.
Certainly nothing for us here in the states.
