...sexual assault, and unlawful restraint. Arrested at his office. Still in custody. If found guilty, 4-15 years in prison.
The person who filed the complaint is said to have had "a professional relationship," but was neither an employee nor a patient. Not sure what that means. The investigation began January 11th.
He's been my dentist since 2005. I've liked him. I just had my teeth cleaned there about 10 days ago. I'm supposed to be going back to get a damaged crown replaced.
I'm stunned.

(24,122 posts)His wife has worked in the office. She is a cousin to the mom of one of my older son's former soccer team mates. My husband and sons are also patients there, and he always asks about my kids.

(25,647 posts)I have stories about several of my colleagues that are positively transcendental. Pardon the pun.
I used to lecture my dental students on inappropriate behavior. I could write a book.

(4,413 posts)I know with doctors a lot of pharmaceutical companies hire young attractive women as sales reps to go around and hand out samples. Suspect it's a job where a lot of abuse is assumed to be what you signed up for when you took the job.
I think dentists probably have something similar.

(12,858 posts)Apparently he was molesting children in his office. His office workers got suspicious, paid special attn, and called cops. All child patients and parents were questioned to see if more than the ones the office workers had noticed had been molested.
I couldn't and can't help wondering where the parents were when their children were being hurt.
Later my new dentist told me he'd had to do a lot of repair to the work that dentist botched. Among other things, he gave wrong crowns to people.
It was learned later that the dentist had been killed in prison.

(3,335 posts)staff whom I have seen recently, though the vast majority who work there are his employees. One was an Orthodontist who comes in only once a week and that is dependent on whether a patient needs to see an Orthodontist on that day. So he's not an employee, he's an independent contractor. Another is a Dental Hygienist who recently did my 'deep cleaning'. I had two appointments for the deep cleanings, two weeks apart, and one lady did one side of my mouth, and two weeks later another woman did the other side. When I asked about the lady who did my first side, since I liked her work, I was told that she was not available that day, and based on what I was told, I got the impression that she worked through a registry on an as needed basis.
So both of these examples of people who could meet the criteria of having had "a professional relationship," but was neither an employee nor a patient.

Sorry for your situation. Now you've got some questions when you shop around for your next dentist.
