Wow-Dutch Intell Infiltrated Russian Hacker Group- Witnessed -How Russians Attacked US Institutions

Wow. The Dutch intelligence agency infiltrated in major Russian hacker group. They witnessed from up close how the Russians structurally attacked US institutions and tried to influence elections.

Dutch intelligence had acces to Russian Cozy Bear hackers group for years and obtained crucial evidence for Russian interference in the U.S. elections,

Cozy Bear's located in a university building near the Red Square. Dutch intel (AIVD) manage to gain access to a security camera. Faces of everyone who enters or exits are analysed for matches with known Russian spies. Info that will prove to be vital, @huibmodderkolk writes.

important Dutch article. Says that Dutch had infiltrated Cosy Bear in 2014 and were watching DNC hack. They informed US intel services who allowed Cosy Bear hack to continue and then used the hack that they had permitted as an excuse to ratchet up international tensions.

PODCAST in Dutch (can anybody translate?)

MORE:

Dutch agencies provide crucial intel about Russia's interference in US-elections
Hackers from the Dutch intelligence service AIVD have provided the FBI with crucial information about Russian interference with the American elections. For years, AIVD had access to the infamous Russian hacker group Cozy Bear. That's what de Volkskrant and Nieuwsuur have uncovered in their investigation.

It's the summer of 2014. A hacker from the Dutch intelligence agency AIVD has penetrated the computer network of a university building next to the Red Square in Moscow, oblivious to the implications. One year later, from the AIVD headquarters in Zoetermeer, he and his colleagues witness Russian hackers launching an attack on the Democratic Party in the United States. The AIVD hackers had not infiltrated just any building; they were in the computer network of the infamous Russian hacker group Cozy Bear. And unbeknownst to the Russians, they could see everything.

That's how the AIVD becomes witness to the Russian hackers harassing and penetrating the leaders of the Democratic Party, transferring thousands of emails and documents. It won't be the last time they alert their American counterparts. And yet, it will be months before the United States realize what this warning means: that with these hacks the Russians have interfered with the American elections. And the AIVD hackers have seen it happening before their very eyes.

The Dutch access provides crucial evidence of the Russian involvement in the hacking of the Democratic Party, according to six American and Dutch sources who are familiar with the material, but wish to remain anonymous. It's also grounds for the FBI to start an investigation into the influence of the Russian interference on the election race between the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and the Republican candidate Donald Trump.

About 3 days ago Biden said McConnell blocked Obama's desire to go public on this. The Obama administration sought McConnell's signature on an announcement of Russian hacking of our election and McConnell refused to sign the statement.

Obama did not feel he could release the information because it would appear to be an attempt by Obama to throw the election to Clinton. Only if it was bi-partisan would it be taken seriously. McConnell, at the time, was refusing to hold hearings on Judge Garland's nomination to the Supreme Court so that decision was at stake too. That was a test of leadership and McConnell failed it miserably.

Had Hillary been elected (and she did win 3 million more votes than Trump so in a sense she was), then this could have been used as a way to spy on the Russians.

Too many discontented Americans voted for Trump in just the right states, so he got the White House even though he really lost the election, and only because he "won" does this information come out.

If Hillary had won, she would have shut out the Russian spies, dealt with them properly and without a lot of fanfare, and we would not have known about this.

Our intelligence agency "allowed" the hack to continue for strategic reasons. They warned the DNC, and the DNC paid no attention.

They may have let the hack go on in order to gather more traceback to the originators. It's a standard Law Enforcement technique - let the street level crime go on, and use the activity to lead you back to the Capo.

I interpret "ratchet up international tensions" as meaning, "told Russia that the US knew of the interference and were instituting heavier sanctions as a consequence."

People die that way.

But they at the least could have put a plan in place to reduce the damage. Maybe take out wikileaks as soon as the dumps began.

The Dutch are a breed unto themselves. I say this because I knew my grandmother and her sisters. What a bunch. And I picked up a lot of Dutch from their gossip sessions.

And did they gossip. This is precisely the kind of conduct I would expect from my grandmother and her sisters -- peeping grandmoms. Just so curious about everything, so needing to know everything, brimming over with nosiness. That's how I view the Dutch in my family.

The Dutch completely pwned the Russian Intel Services. They broke into the Russian security cameras, fergodsake, and got pics of everyone entering or leaving the hackers' HQ.

They were all up in the Russian comms, and the poor boobs didn't even suspect they were being looked at. Meanwhile the Dutch were feeding the NSA in real time.

The Dutch are real-life IC heroes, IMHO.

After our WH and State Dept. was attacked, is beyond disturbing.

https://nos.nl/nieuwsuur/artikel/2213767-dutch-intelligence-first-to-alert-u-s-about-russian-hack-of-democratic-party.html

After a few months, in November 2014, the Dutch watched as the Russian hackers penetrated the computer network of the State Department. After being alerted to this by the Dutch intelligence chiefs, it took the Americans over 24 hours to avert the Russian attack, after a digital clash which, years later, at a discussion forum in Aspen, the Deputy Director of the NSA would refer to as hand-to-hand combat . Basing itself on intelligence sources, the Washington Post wrote that a Western ally had been of assistance.

In the autumn of 2014, the Russians also gained access to the non-classified computer network of the White House. This allowed them to see confidential memos and non-public information about the itinerary of President Obama, and to at least part of President Obama's email correspondence. These hacks, too, were exposed by the Dutch intelligence services, which subsequently notified the Americans.

She showed me her Morse code machine and talked to me with a very mysterious look on her face as if to say without saying it that what she was telling me was very important and I should not forget it. Of course, I did not understand at all what she was trying to tell me without really telling me. It took many years and a better understanding of history before I could understand her. She was wonderful.

We may not be genetically related, but I bet we are "related" in many other wonderful ways. And who knows? We could be genetically related through common Dutch ancestors. My sister is quite an expert on the family history of it.

Thanks for your post.

I owe a lot to my Dutch ancestors. They were adventurous but very practical. That's a winning combination in my view. Adventurous but exceedingly neat and well organized.
