(19,569 posts)Every time we get a Republican in office the myth is once again proven to be false. Yet we hear it constantly when we're in power.
It boggles my mind that people can be that blind to the reality of what's taking place around them.

(15,428 posts)Unless the proponents specifically point out what they will "change", how it will affect us and how much it will cost.
Not promises but an independent audit. CBO and an international audit.

(19,569 posts)It sounds great if we're talking about interesting as in good, but bad is also interesting in that it's never dull.
Change is as subjective as that old saying is. If you use it in the wrong context on the right audience you can literally get them to trade you their own better interest for a change that isn't going to be anything like what they assumed, but it is most definitely changes to their way of life.

(8,100 posts)Basically, I'm very into spirituality, new thought, self-actualization... (Definitely NOT religion). I'm a recovering alcoholic and have had some experiences that I really believe have saved my life and have prompted me to move in the direction in which I'm going. Most of my friends are politically active. However, I have a couple of friends and acquaintances who are "spiritual" and "stay out of politics." One has used the term "political atheist" to describe herself. Another was telling me yesterday how a friend of hers (who's HIV and who I know too) got into housing and only has to pay $27 a month! And we're in Los Angeles! She proceeded to tell me...."It's in the Hollywood area, only a studio but really cute......, etc", I let her know that this is Government Housing (I don't like that term) and that it's most likely going to be eliminated now because of the Republicans...........(I didn't want to get into the whole BORING tax cut conversation since none of it e/affects her or the people she knows so why the fuck should she be bothered?!?!?!?).............WHY CAN'T SEEMINGLY SMART PEOPLE CONNECT THE DOTS THAT A FOUR YEAR OLD COULD??????

People who assert that both parties are loons. Don't try to persuade those people. Warn others about them.

(I am hunkered down in a very poor part of the country where nearly 80% of my neighbors voted for the thing in the Whitehouse. I have an excuse for being unhinged).
