Does anyone else check the internet constantly, just in case the "big one" drops?

And by "big one" I mean a story that there's audio of Trump receiving information about the Russians hacking the DNC? Or that Mueller has Kushner dead to rights and has convinced him to testify against Trump? Or that there are wire transfers from the campaign incriminating Trump?

Constantly hitting the "refresh" button is not a healthy way to live, yet I've been doing it for more than a year now. The one saving grace is that the midterms are coming up, so there will soon be more constructive ways to spend my time.

I'm obviously worried about things that affect me, but having family, friends, etc. is what amplifies those fears. I genuinely worry about what's going to be left for my kids, friends' kids, nieces, nephews, etc.

And this isn't about "politics." I always believed that we could reverse most of the damage Bush caused, as well as Reagan. This is all very different.

You have to compartmentalize that shit, or it will eat you up and mess up all the other aspects of your life.

During bush and reagan, everyone said the same thing. If there is ever another R elected to the presidency, we'll say the same thing then, too. America is bigger than one man, and there's no magical reason that bush and reagan could be reversed, but not trump. Focus on the bits you can change.

I'd like to put most of this on a shelf and bring it out now and then, but I can't ignore what is happening for more than a few hours at a time. I have three-year-old grandsons and I worry what kind of a world they will inherit.

You are right, it is not about politics. It is far bigger than that. I've been around a long time and I've never seen anything that comes close to what we are witnessing now. I cannot put my blinders on.

just before midterms. I'm hoping that Pence, Ryan & McConnell get caught up in this as well as Kushner and Jr. and that the Dems retake the House and Senate.

Impeachment then means that the House Majority Leader (a Dem) would be in line for the WH.

I am on the internet a lot, but not because of that stuff.

I did listen to MSNBC or CNN in the car rather than music on the satellite. I started doing this during the campaign and only recently stopped doing it all the time. I was more checking for a war or martial law declaration than an end to this madness.

Trump probably said something stupid to Mueller in those texts that bolster the case of obstruction. He may have tried to bribe Mueller by offering him the FBI Chief post in exchange for clearing him in the Russia investigation I'm hoping he was arrogant and stupid enough to try this with Mueller. That would seal his fate.

The Constitution expresses a fear of the 'tyranny of the majority' and the aberrations it might produce on occasion.

We just have to let the process play out, even if it takes the next national election, and even the one after that.

We see lots of evidence of wrong-doing in the deluge of news. I want to see consequences, both legal and political, dealt out to the perpetrators.

The "big one" will be legit elections in November. Need paper ballots; I can't count electrons.

Where were you when you heard about it? famous.

And I want Mueller to take his sweet time if that's what it takes to get them ALL!
It would be extra icing on the cake if he can blow all their flotsam/jetsam shit they have pulled
all over the press coverage just before the midterms, tho.

That would make me very happy!

I spend so much more time online every day, checking news sites. I reach for my phone as soon as I wake up. I’ve searched for reasons. I do think it’s hope that something big will happen. The truth is though I can’t describe what that would be. A Presidential coronary? An arrest of a principal? There’s no singular miracle that would right things. After a year now I do step away for days at a time when there’s no immediate need to stay on the phones. I will be working to elect Democrats this election cycle. And, of course, I’ll be voting and hounding friends and family to make sure they do, too. As has been said by others, this administration is exhausting.

If something big comes down it will be all over the news everywhere - it will be talked about on TV, on the radio, in your break room at work. It certainly wouldn't only be on the internet. And if something IS only on the internet, then it would most certainly not be a "big one".

If there's truly a "big one" it will be everywhere and everyone will know about it, you won't miss out on it just because you weren't glued to a screen when the news broke.

North Korea attacking South Korea. Trump attacking North Korea. Trump nuking North Korea. Trump stroking out. Trump getting divorced. Trump having a heart attack. Mueller releasing his report. Somebody getting fired. Somebody getting arrested. A terrorist attack because the federal government has been emptied of competent people while being led by incompetent sycophants.

I can't not check!
