Himself when he wasn’t in Bannon’s office, I believe. He mentions the waiting room in the book.

He has the Rethug Congress totally behind him and they have his back. The GOP is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Faux News and Breitbart.

When Watergate occurred it was the President's own party that told him it was time to resign. Now I suspect that the GOP figures that regardless what the polls show they will keep their hold on Congress so long as there are still 2-party elections, with the help of Russia hacking the voting machines. Why do you think there is such resistance to paper ballots or any other form of verifying the count of the machines?

And now, it looks like the Repubs have circled the wagons around Trump and Russia, in the hopes that Russia, Trumpers, and donors will bring in Republican wins in the mid-terms. They are also counting on weakness in the Democratic Party. The Dems are not as ruthless and cutthroat as the Repubs. I think the rank and file are ready to change on that score, but I'm not sure the leadership is. I'm still seeing what I consider to be too much weakness at the top...still behaving as if the opposition is rational and wants to govern for the good of hte country. It doesn't.

but the DNC is getting as bad as the RNC. Was reading an article the other day that if you want to run as a Dem you have to be able to guarantee a minimum fund-raising ability and you have to sign a contract that you will spend at least 20 hours/week on fund-raising if you are elected. (Don't remember where I read it - maybe the New Yorker?)

Money is a huge part of running for anything. Maybe they have to commit to fund raising because they receive money from the DNC. So I don't know enough about that to judge it.

It's a fact that it takes a lot of money to run for office, though.
