(745 posts)Please don't assume it's over. There's a long hard battle ahead to make it happen. A few weeks ago, per what I was hearing, the math is that for Democrats to have a 50-50 chance to take the house (with Gerrymandering factored in) the party has to be polling 6 points ahead of Republicans. At that time the polling had us up by 8. That is not... a huge margin...

The problem with corruption is that is snares people who engage in it further and further into depravity. What begins simply as turning a blind eye to collusion leads to actively participating in it, which leads to ever-more-extreme efforts to keep yourself from being brought to account. Eventually you reach the unthinkable -- which, in this case, means the choice of abiding by the law and paying the price for your criminal acts, or overthrowing the law to protect yourself. Is there really much doubt what anyone in the Trump administration or the Republican leadership would do if/when brought to that juncture?
