General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIm shocked at how much clapping and cheering for Trump there was
This was so so over the top. It was to the Faux news level.
Heck one thing for certain, Mueller has nothing on Trump, otherwise
the entire GOP and most the dems wouldnt have been on their hands
and knees like they were, worshiping their God Trump,
This was painful to watch.

(26,044 posts)...that, if Mueller had anything on Trump, they wouldn't be cheering him as they did. Therefore, Mueller must have nothing, and everyone in D.C. knows it.

(5,937 posts)I understand that our party has to play along, and we respected the address far better than they did for President Obama. I know the high road is not popular but I get it.

(45,002 posts)Certainly there were lots of unflattering shots of Trump and audience reaction but it did seem that the mics on the Republican side were jacked up. Then again, Democrats were mostly silent except for a few righteous boos

(42,770 posts)the repuke side ! Thinking about the typical - it was more balanced - you could differentiate the fact that there was audience response from one side and not the other. You couldn't last night.
Very dictator-esque. Picture crowds filled with automatons...clapping in unison for a dictator

(115,686 posts)Since the GOPers are in charge of everything it wouldn't have been hard for them to set up the audio so as to magnify the applause. I wouldn't put anything past those fuckers.

(26,060 posts)Democrats didn't applaud at all from what the pundits are saying (I refused to watch that degenerate, he's diminished the office of the presidency for life).

(6,113 posts)Trump clapped loud and long form himself. That was picked up by the podium mic and made the clapping sound strange, almost like the European style clapping in unison.
The mic also picked up on his labored breathing. He often sounded like a stalker on the telephone.

(58,724 posts)Point being that the vast majority of Republicans are happy with Trump- which we sometimes forget (at least I do!).

(993 posts)So I didn't have the visual distraction. I found the applause seemingly after every couple of sentences very distracting. Were the repugs applauding the thought or the fact the dufus actually spoke a complete sentence which contained one or more 2 syllable words? Yes applause is appropriate in these ceremonial "for show" occasions, but it was waaay over the top last night.
