Trump Jr. rips ACLU over State of the Union criticism: 'These people have really lost their way'

Donald Trump Jr. ripped the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on Wednesday after the organization criticized President Trump's State of the Union address.

"Imagine that, he said America in THE STATE OF THE UNION! These people have really lost their way. It’s really a shame," Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, said in a tweet.

The ACLU's national political director Faiz Shakir issued a written response to Trump's first State of the Union on Tuesday.

“Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities," Shakir said in a statement.

"The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls."

...with something serious like immigration changes kind of dilutes the point. The complaint from Jr is about as valid as the count of "America"s. Who cares?

4. i don't think it's unreasonable to call out donnie's claim to appeal to unity while dividing us.

they're not calling out the number of times he says "um" or "you know" or "really". that would be silly.

calling out the ways he claims to be all about america and unity while advancing policies and spewing rhetoric that divides us and tramples on the rights and well-being of many of those americans is entirely appropriate.
