(36,974 posts)2. President Obama will probably have the opportunity to replace 2 or 3 at the most in his 2nd term.
He will have only four years, not eight - so appointing 'five' more is really not very likely.
And then whoever is president after Obama will not have very many to appoint due to the court having a larger majority of younger Justices on the Court by January 2017.

He's still young. I bet the others will also try to hang on to the bitter end. That's what they do.

and also could be used as a cover if his handlers turn up the heat too high for him to handle.
