I think, based on what we know, it is very likely that Holmes has paranoid schizophrenia.

A video from a science camp he attended after high school shows him making a presentation about temporal illusions, misfirings in brain cells that lead to misreading the passage of time — the feeling that time stands still. In the video, Holmes refers to "an illusion that allows you to change the past."

From that alone I would be very surprised if it wasn't so.

which could likely be controlled, but alas, we have collectively decided that access to mental health services for anyone who needs them are far less important than endless wars, especially Raygun's War on Drugs..and maintenance of our prison industrial complex..
