Why GOP libertarianism is bad for America. Paul Ryan doesn't want you to hear this
(from 2014 but still applies today)
Thomas Piketty, the French economist, has been showing the total dishonesty of GOP donor-driven Ayn Rand-fetishization. If anyone ever tells you Ayn Rand is good, tell them
"As Piketty has shown, totally unregulated markets lead to the people at the top - billionaires and CEOs - keeping all the wealth. That's not what America is about - we need good jobs for the working class too, and that's why we need some regulation and wealth redistribution."

Libertarians have always been flummoxed by inequality, tending either to deny that its a problem or pretend that the invisible hand of the market will wave a magic wand to cure it. Then everybody gets properly rewarded for what he or she does with brains and effort, and things are peachy keen.
Except that they arent, as exhaustively demonstrated by French economist Thomas Piketty, whose 700-page treatise on the long-term trends in inequality, Capital In the 21st Century, has blown up libertarian fantasies one by one.
