#RepublicanShutdown

So the word is that Rand Paul is using some procedure to delay the vote until after the shutdown takes effect at midnight. Once midnight passes, he is supposed to relent, and allow a vote at 1:00 AM in the Senate.

Then, it has to go to the House, who have been advised to be ready for a vote (maybe), between 3 & 6 AM. And I'm sure they've all read and debated this bill they plan to vote on, so the government can reopen in time for the work day.

This is the way our "government" functions. If people ran their lives the way the government runs this country, we'd all be living in our own chaos. But for our "government," this is supposed to be entirely normal.

They think the bill will be able to barely pass in the House, if they can get about 60 Democrats to vote for it. But they're not 100% sure, so things could still collapse while the rest of the country is asleep.
