Chuck Todd: It's difficult to take the level of 'crazy' of this White House
By John Bowden - 02/08/18 06:06 PM EST

NBC's Chuck Todd on Thursday unloaded on the Trump administration during "Meet The Press Daily," saying in a lengthy monologue that the Trump presidency was akin to a "parody" of a real administration.

"It feels like we've reached a level of crazy in the White House, and it's difficult to take it anymore," Todd began. "Reality TV appearances, tabloid gossip, conspiracy theories, name-calling, vulgarities, and a level of egomania few have every seen in Washington. And that's saying something."

“It's like we're living inside a parody," Todd added. " ‘What would happen if Donald Trump became president? Omarosa would probably work in the West Wing! And then she'd leave to go on Big Brother to dish about Administration secrets! Ha!’ ... Oh wait. That happened.”

Todd's comments came in response to a clip featuring former Trump aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman on the reality show "Celebrity Big Brother," which went viral earlier in the day.

In the clip, which Todd played on his show, Manigault-Newman talks with a fellow "Big Brother" contestant about her experiences during her time in the White House. She says she was concerned about Trump's Twitter habits and warned her fellow contestant that things "are going to not be OK" for the U.S. under Trump.

"Folks, we're not even surprised by this stuff any more," Todd said. "Just think about what we've seen, or endured, over the past 13 months of this presidency. The Twitter battles with a rival nuclear power, members of his own party, the special counsel, TV hosts, a Gold Star widow, the Justice Department, mayors, senators, governors, our allies and many people in between."

Todd went on to list a number of Trump scandals, including his alleged payout to a porn star over an affair and controversies over his statements about neo-Nazis, before finishing with a final condemnation of Trump's administration.

"All of this is the legacy of our country's first reality TV star president," Todd said. "Where everything is personal, and it's all about the show."

Whatever we are hearing about in the news is only what has been sourced and what news organizations are comfortable putting out there. There is much that goes on that doesn't get reported, things that journalist and reporters see and hear that can't get out to the public because it falls under the category of rumor, not sourced or verified, or something that is seen out of the corner of someone's eye. The White House has turned into a Mad House. The entire planet is in peril.

to quote. This is the only one I know of (on MTP) that backlash forced him to backtrack on.

I am just a little bit shell-shocked that we are now on the verge of the American public choosing the two most unpopular politicians in America to be the standard bearers for the two major parties. This is uncharted territory. We have never been in a situation like this. ... discussion throughout the night — is: Are we really going to be here for six straight months ... probably going down a low road, led by Trump — Clinton probably feeling, doing the same thing, and it’s sort of this race to the bottom?

In all the many false equalizations he used virtually every appearance to push, he "protected" his journalistic "integrity" by focusing, like this one, on the idea of both Hillary and Trump being hold-your-nose candidates, carefully ignoring their incredibly different substance and agendas.

And that "race to the bottom?" Todd was only one in the media who were pushing that meme to the public, but all with the same agenda.

Toad scum.

and cohorts.

Even his choice of words..."difficult to take"..."feels like"..and where has the media been for 13 months? Kind of like all the "allegedlies" that are typically used.

Oh yes...in their own narcissistic protected bubble.

Better late than never I guess but the Toddies enabled this.

a race would be good for ratings. NOW they're worried. I also think better late than never; might make them more ruthless in pursuit of dethroning this asshat.

It was pretty obvious this is exactly what would happen with Trump as President. The media normalizing him doesn't actually make him normal. It's about like entering a wild coyote in a dog obedience competition.
