Why the Hell Is Hope Hicks Getting Off Easy?

Source: The Daily Beast

What the hell is wrong with Hope Hicks?

The White House communications director spent at least part of this taxpayer-funded week on the job helping draft a fawning statement in defense of her boyfriend on behalf of her boss. The boyfriend, White House staff secretary Rob Porter, was accused of abusing both of his ex-wives. Hicks’ boss is White House chief of staff John Kelly, a former general who, despite months ago spending some of his taxpayer-funded time pontificating to the press corps on how women used to be “sacred,” reportedly knew about the alleged spousal abuse for months and signed off on the statement anyway.

Kelly and others even encouraged Porter to “stay and fight” the charges, the worst possible choice of words one could use in defending a domestic abuser. According to former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, the White House also attempted to frame Lewandowski for the leak that led to Porter’s resignation.

What the hell is wrong with the White House? What the hell is wrong with John Kelly? And last but certainly not least: Why the hell is Hope Hicks getting off easy?

Lewendowski, Porter, and who knows who else.

At her level and theirs the extra drama is mostly definitely a no-no. These aren't intern level jobs...

in a diff post. She has a personal relationship with a known abuser and that is her choice/problem. Writing a letter with Kelly that protects a person who the FBI has warned you about is a national security issue and she is as guilty as Kelly in the cover up.

Hicks is seemingly innocuous/unimportant by the apparent lack of media coverage. But she is the highest paid person in the administration, and she drafted this letter with Kelly. I would not call that innocuous or unimportant. Just what else does she get up to that isn't being covered? Put aside the juvenile innuendo and ask what is going on that she is "involved" with Lewandowski first and then Porter. I think the WH wants us to dwell on her playing footsies under the table with these guys (and tRump) because it's a distraction from her real position.

As simple and as sexist as that.

I think this whole latest thing is about HER. Bully (and married) Corey was her previous boyfriend. He was dropped, and bully Porter with nasty marital past was (and still is) the next. Corey hates Porter because he has Hope now. Gets Porter out of the picture by nudging the story to the Daily News.

High School crap. Hope may sink them all. A pretty woman.

There was a rumor when she first came to the White House that Trump was banging her. If not now, I'm sure he hit it at least once. She then went to Trump aide Corey Lowendowsky and then to Porter. Obviously she gets passed around. The reason she's there is that she's eye candy. No other reason.

She's like any other young person with family professional connections. No one believes they are there for any other reason. She didn't need to sleep with trumpft to get the job and saying so is sexist.

Trump doesn't value smart women, he wants them to have long skinny legs and big boobs. Is it sexist to say it when it's so obviously true?

He keeps very few women around. She rarely talks, so she's there for some other reason. Male pleasure is not really a stretch here.

"To the senior staff, she (Hope Hicks) seemed not only too young and too inexperienced—she was famous among campaign reporters for her hard-to-maneuver-in short skirts—but a way-too-overeager yes woman, always in fear of making a mistake, ever tremulously second-guessing herself and looking for Trump’s approval. But the president kept rescuing her—“Where’s Hope?”—from any oblivion others tried to assign her to. Baffling to almost everyone, Hicks remained his closest and most trusted aide, with, perhaps, the single most important job in this White House: interpreting the media for him in the most positive way it could be interpreted, and buffering him from the media that could not be positively spun..."
