Many Caucasian Americans do not read well. Does this correlate with the success of Fox, Rush, etc??

There used to be ads in paperback books that the US illiteracy rate was 30% plus.

Anyone seen recent data?

This fact would seem to have something to do with our present political situation.

I haven't seen any analysis focusing specifically on literacy.

4th grade level reading comprehension skills are all anyone of us need to follow the orange menace. Is that considered "literate"? If we use 12th grade reading level as the benchmark for all adults, then I bet you don't want to know the statistic.

just endured a neighborhood discussion where a woman posted a problem she was having and asked for suggestions to solve it. Half the posts expressed anger of some sort that had nothing to do with her problem but nonetheless bullied the woman.

Something has really gone haywire and illiteracy may be the beginning of it.

Without a proper command of one's own primary language, one's employment opportunities in higher wage jobs decline sharply.

So minimum wage earners look for someone to blame. They're not going to blame themselves, so smart ass libruls and "illegals" become the target.

Education ultimately fixes this problem, but one has to be educated in the first place to know that. Hence the uneducated continue to vote against their own best interests, and the cycle repeats.
