Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has an A rating from the NRA.
Just wanted to clarify that for some who seem to think that Sen. Nelson is pro-gun and not sympathetic to today's victims of the latest atrocity. Cause he supposedly gave a poor interview or something.

(42,334 posts)I'm so tired of Democrats being slammed based on one thing. We need to look at the whole picture, not just one interview or whatever.

(297,275 posts)thread.. that he was probably stunned. That made sense to me..
I just read a little about it and started crying.. I can imagine being down there where it happened.

(42,334 posts)Experienced media commenters got very emotional but Nelson was "an embarrassment" cause he didn't meet someone's exacting standards.
Fcking Rubio does the "thoughts and prayers" talking point and gets a pass.

Not like Rubio who got $3,303,355 per a Jimmy Kimmel writer.. She posted all the condolences from these congress people and how much the NRA gave them... uggh.

How about we call out the accomplices instead of beating up on and bashing Dems.

(35,454 posts)WE could start numbering 1-1000. But this bashing of Dems is making me furious. Heard Heidi P. speak this morning about good news for Dems and then immediately pivoted into why, though, they should really be careful. And I stand by my thought that maybe Senator Nelson was too disturbed by what happened that he wasn't able to get beyond the sadness, which just in case some don't know, is not a high energy emotion.

(42,334 posts)He is a bit stiff when he's speaking. Every politician doesn't have the speaking skills of President Obama. They still stand for what's right.
To judge a man on his speaking ability at this time is just focusing on the superficial.
I don't consider John Kerry a fabulous speaker yet he is a man of courage and principle who has served his country well.

(26,080 posts)WTF are people doing saying Nelson isn't pro control?
Oh, know why I didn't post that OP an hour ago? Because I was on the phone with a hysterical coworker, whose neighbor's daughter was shot and is in the ICU right now, and whose daughter was cowering on the floor of her math class.
In 2012, the National Rifle Association gave Nelson a "F" rating for his support of gun control.[73] Nelson is an advocate for new gun control laws including an Assault Weapons Ban and imposing a ban on magazines over ten rounds.[74] In 2013, he supported a proposal that would require individuals buying guns at gun shows to have background checks. He also supported the banning of assault rifles and limiting gun magazines to 10 rounds.[75]
In response to the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting, Nelson expressed remorse that the Democrat's Feinstein Amendment, which made the sale of guns to individuals on the terrorist watch list illegal, and a Republican proposal to update background checks and to create an alert for law enforcement when an individual on the terrorist watch list, failed to pass the Senate. He stated "What am I going to tell the community of Orlando that is trying to come together in the healing? Sadly, what I am going to have to tell them is that the NRA won again.[76] Both he and Marco Rubio supported the bills.[77]

(844 posts)Should wear their Fs from the NRA like a badge of decency and promote the fact that the gun lobby hates them in campaigns. I think it would do us good and it would make it more clear who is for this status quo of lunacy and who is for fixing it.
