Rachel is covering this right now.

(17,984 posts)I just wondered if his level of clearance was reduced. To be honest, I haven't been paying attention to him since he was removed.

(2,857 posts)He was removed to keep even the suspicion of wrong doing from being connected to the investigation.
I'm sure he still has his clearances.

(17,984 posts)I thought he was sent away because he texted or emailed anti-tRump messages. Part of the issue was he was using an unsecured service (?). I guess I was asking because I wanted to know if removing all suspicion, as you put it, included a reduced clearance level. I was thinking of a comparison between "punishing" Strzok to keep the team impeccable and the WH's completely haphazard handling of security clearance.

(2,857 posts)He was not using an unsecured service. He was using his government issued phone to text his paramore to keep their spouses from finding out.
He did not just make texts critical of Trump, he was much more critical of Clinton. I read the texts. He said he was voting for Trump in those texts.
Why do you think he got a lower level clearance? Nothing was a lie that he said.

(17,984 posts)I'm not out to pick on him or Mueller or the OP. It's something that I remember happening and got me thinking about clearance. Thank you for the clarification.

(33,643 posts)You have a link to that info by any chance? I find myself arguing WRT this guy all the time with wingnuts so want to have all the ammo possible to ridicule them for their stupidity and lies.

(2,857 posts)But I've read so many stories on this I can't find that one specifically. I remember it extremely well though. He told her he had decided Trump was right and he was probably going to vote for him. She acted sort of shocked and he said it didn't matter because he hated Clinton and Trump couldn't be that bad, lol. Later he said he was voting for him for sure.
I'll look for it again, but that exchange was gold. I wish we could just get their texts with no story attached.

(58,660 posts)actually probably not. What changes for him as he shifts positions within the bureau would be access.
He may have the same clearance level, but would obviously not have access to further info on the Mueller investigation.

(17,984 posts)I was playing devil's advocate in regards to Preet's tweet. Could it be argued that Strzok was an example of someone from Mueller's team who shouldn't have clearance? Obviously it could be argued, but he was sent away as soon as his tweets or emails were discovered.

(37,748 posts)"Playing devil's advocate" for something you "didn't follow that closely" seems to set oneself up for fail from the start.
"Could it be argued that Strzok was an... ? Obviously it could be argued..."
What valid argument or statute or policy or procedure would support this hypothetical argument?

(33,643 posts)Will say the wingnuts when presented with this fact ... ZOMG it's just more evidence that FBI hate's Dear Leader ...
I mean, it could not POSSIBLY be that the people he's hired ... just generally SUCK in terms of their morals and past behavior ... hence their willingness to work for the Mafioso Don in the first place ... and hence they really have no business whatsoever in the positions that Trump has placed them.
Nawwww ... couldn't be THAT. Everything Trump is TEH BESTEST!!!
