President or congressman. This is something I've thought about before and I'm sure I'm not the only one. There is very little political stomach for facing the NRA because of how much power and political clout they have. But I wonder too if some of the resistance on the left might be fear for one's life? Or do you think it's just because it has always seemed like political suicide? Btw when I say go after I don't mean ban them or anything like that but used their powers to somewhat forcefully enact gun control laws etc.

Inaction regarding gun control is about cowardice and fear of donor abandonment.

(25,248 posts)if all of Congress bans together to stop being the NRA's lackey - and stop taking the NRA money - the NRA would be rendered powerless in D.C.
I've brought this up years ago here on DU - but for some reason - Congress didn't listen to me.

(17,006 posts)I find it amazing that we managed to outlaw alcohol at one point in our history. Something that lots of people liked to indulge in yet, a vocal, politically active group managed to shove prohibition down the throats of the entire country and we stand here now, wringing our hands, saying there is nothing we can do. Bullshit. We can. I believe there are way more people against guns then there were people against beer.
