"active shooter drills" her last years of teaching she even stategically placed books and furniture in her classroom in a certain way with the thought of a possible shooter in mind. When we were kids we never even thought of that sort of thing.

When I taught high school in the 60s the farm boys drove to school with shotguns in their back windows and they were loaded. No one gave it a second thought.

a couple of kids who either don't get it or are just asses, I'm forced to hiss at them to keep quiet. I hate to show that side of me, but one day, it may not be a drill. A couple of years ago, I had a second grader who more or less had the posture of "We're in here! We're in here!"
