When I was in high school (mid 1970s), there was a rumor that a guy had a knife. No proof, just a rumor. He was shunned. I saw him walk down the hall and all the other students kept as far away from him as possible. He could have twirled around with his arms outstretched and not hit anyone.

In high school! In an abandon fountain in front of the lunch room.

Kids would smoke there. And you could even see them passing a pipe!

That ended in 82 when I was a junior.

-I was pretty young then. Though somewhat later, even most of the fighting and bullying had a certain amount of morality to it, and never seemed to go too far.
