NRA? What does it do now?, It has a plan. For awhile, it shuts up and says nothing.

I have watched the NRA as it responds to mass shootings. It has a plan that works. First, their spokespeople shut up for a while. Usually 3 to 5 days. If anything, it is just prayers and support for those killed and wounded. Too soon to respond. Then after awhile, when things calm down, their response is always the same. Their spokespersons and those in the republican party who take a strong stand with them, basically say that no laws would have prevented this, and of course the 2nd Amendment argument.

It is the same plan used over and over. Quiet for a few days. "No new laws would have prevented this" "2nd Amendment response" "sympathy and condolences" A few other arguments might be used, "lack of security at the school" or some NRA people might say, "if the teachers had guns, they could have shot the intruder quickly after he started shooting". There are a few more arguments that we hear, but it is the same formula time and after time. Sunday might be too soon. It doesn't matter.

Same plan over and over. Each time. And their plan works........

Proof you ask? I thought after Sandy Hook there would be some new laws. There were no new laws. I don't think there have been any new laws passed by congress in many years. How about after Gabby Giffords was shot?...Nope....that was on January 8, 2011?...Nope.. (wasn't she a member of Congress at the time of that shooting?) (didn't matter)

Even though these mass shootings continue. again, and again, and again, and again.

2. I am beginning to doubt things will ever change.

The only thing I see that could change the landscape is if some gun fanatic goes in and wipes out the NRA headquarters. Other than event like that, I can't believe anything will get their attention.

What a sorry nation we have become, allowing these fringe organizations to wield such power.

It is a fact that 70 to 80 percent of the population in the U.S. want stronger gun laws. But nothing happens...,over and over and over, and over, and over..............................

That should please the NRA and their main patron, the merchants of death.

8. They're very good at spreading their "alternatives" to gun control

through their stooges in the punditocracy...

First, it was "Arm all the teachers", then it was "Tougher mental health screening and more federal investment in mental health services", and most recently it was "Why won't these unarmed cowards hiding in their classrooms/office cubicles just charge the shooter en masse and subdue him? All it takes is 8-12 people because there's no way a shooter could possibly kill all of them!"

Starting with Columbine they have been advancing the talking point that the occasional mass shooting is just the price of freedom; the broken eggs for the omlet...

Great Britian has..."freedom" doesn't it?
Germany has freedom, doesn't it?
Canada has freedom, doesn't it?...Has Canada had 20 mass shootings in the last 40 years??
